Allen used to work for the French state in a laboratory dealing with anything concerning bridges, roads or other public
structures. This laboratory is the Laboratoire Régional des Ponts et Chaussées de Bordeaux.

He has been doing measurements on concrete and metal structures, using and also making transducers with their
electronics, and interfacing and computer programming.
Today he is retired
